This pregnancy has definitely flown by faster than the first…prob due to the energy-bunny known as Jack. :) With all the busyness of raising our rambunctious, sweet boy and Jon’s work, we were really hoping we’d get a chance to do another baby moon or at least a one night getaway before Liv joins us…but just weren’t sure it’d happen. My mom very sweetly (and eagerly) agreed to take Jack for us. Now, could I actually let him go? Well, it was very, VERY, VERY hard but I did it…we did it. I only cried 3 times total (that’s not bad, right? esp with being pregnant ;-)) and Jon may or may not have got a little verclempt too. But we survived and reunion was sweet. :) Thank you again to my mom for taking Jack but I know she enjoyed every bit of it.
Here’s some pictures from our time. We stayed at the lovely Wildwood Inn in Denton as we didn’t want to go too far from home with me being 36 weeks. It was the perfect distance and place to stay to feel like we got away without having to do a ton of travel.
After checking in to our beautiful room (and ogling over the jacuzzi tub), we headed out to Sanger so Jon could experience The Tomato – my favorite pizza place in college. Sadly, they burned down in 2007 but have now reopened so after the many trips to Round Table (Jon’s CA fave), I was excited for Jon to see my pizza place. He really enjoyed it and we met and talked with some nice locals as well. Afterwards, I took Jon on the Bre’s-life-in-college tour and we drove by the Fry house and then got ice cream at Beth Marie’s on the square. With the twinkle lights up in the trees and a beautiful cool breeze in the air, it was the perfect way to start to unwind for our 2-night stay.
By around 10, though, I realized it’s the time we normally go in and check on Jack and as a result, burst into tears crying, “It’s time to go see buddy and we can’t!!!!! Who’s idea was this anyway?!?!?! Wahhhhhhh!” But after Jon gently reminded me that it was (oh yeah) my idea…I finally calmed down and we got a good night’s sleep.
In the morning, we tried out a local spot for breakfast (the B&B had a continental breakfast but not filling enough for this preggo) and then went to the Shops at Highland Village to walk around until our movie started. We ended up sitting in the Barnes & Noble for an hour and a half reading magazines (him woodworking, me sewing) which sounds so lame but was heavenly. (It’s the little things) It was so nice outside that we decided to skip the movie and just keep walking around the shops. We found and bought a new puzzle for Jack and kept seeing what seems like a million little boys every where we went. Our code saying was ‘uh oh, don’t look’ which of course made the other look and see whichever cute little boy was in our midst to remind us of our sweet little one. Plus, my mom would send us picture updates and had, at that moment, told us he had found a picture of us on one of her shelves and was carrying it around with him. Cue crying session #3,402. haha But I pulled it together and we grabbed some lunch and visited with old friends at The Village Church offices.
We then headed back to our B&B to enjoy the beautiful pool and spa. There was hardly anyone else staying there so no one was around. The pool water was too cold though and the hot tub wasn’t on but they got it going so we were able to get in for a little bit before it got too hot which was nice for me and my preggo belly.
After drying off and resting a bit, we headed out for dinner at Giuseppe’s then coffee and dessert at another local stop. Overall, a wonderful and relaxing day but we were eager to see our Bud in the morning! :) We woke up rested but still enjoyed a leisurely morning with Jon watching tv while I took my last of practically 15 baths in the tub (really only 3). We grabbed lunch at The Greenhouse then met mom to get Jack. He was banging on the glass of the Starbucks wall (lovely I know) staring out and it took him a second to realize it was us walking up but when he did he had the biggest grin. :) Now, we’re back home and resting and ready to kick it all back into gear tomorrow. Liv will be here before we know it but we are so thankful for this time to hit pause and just rest. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Sorry for the lack in updates…just preparing everyone for the assumed lack in updates once Jack is here. Although we will try our darndest to update b/c that’s when you’d want to hear updates anyway, right?! Well, we’ve been busy, busy to say the least. A few weeks ago I asked Jon, “So, IF I found the perfect place and IF they could give us a great deal and IF we could somehow get out of our lease, THEN would you maybe consider moving before Jack gets here?” Well, Jon (still not fully realizing the insanely amazing capabilities of his wife) said, “Sure.” It was all over from there. ;-)
But, seriously, the Lord provided an awesome rental home for us. We know the landlords through the coop who then offered us a great deal and our fabulous previous landlords were able to find new tenants for our condo so….move we did! Thanks to family and friend’s prayers, we are now Oak Cliff dwellers! The house is a wreck right now or I’d post photos so that will have to be a post for another day. But it’s a great (pretty much though not technically) 3 bedroom, one bath with a garage, screened in porch, and a yard for the Sumeister. Beautiful hard woods and tall ceilings. We’re really excited and am slowly but surely unpacking everything. I think we’re going to do a house-warming party but we’re going to wait until the newest resident is with us so it can be a combo ‘say hi to Jack and warm our home’ type of party. We shall see.
Speaking of the little booger, we’ve only got about 4 1/2 weeks left! Craziness! Jon is getting so excited. I’ve caught him looking off longingly with a smile at little babies or father/sons when we’re out. It chokes me up just thinking about it. So cute. I was blessed with a wonderful shower a couple weeks ago which was great. Thank you to my awesome hostesses by the way: Cassie, Amanda, Wanda, Dana, Elizabeth, Katie, and Mary Kathryn and to all my sweet guests (especially my aunt who took lots of pictures (but I forgot to get a picture with her :().
Jack got lots of cute clothes and things for bath time and his nursery so thank you so much to everyone! Now I just have to find a dresser/bookshelves to put it all in/on. ha ha But that’s what garage sales are for! ;-) Other than that, we’re just unpacking and getting ready for Jack. Jon’s parents are coming in soon after his arrival so we are excited to see them and have them here and my mom will be staying with us the first couple weeks too. Yay for help after a newborn!!
Jon and I also got some maternity photos done by my fabulous photographer friend, Rebekah Greenawalt. She’s awesome and you should contact her for any wedding/engagement/baby photography. Here’s a few of my faves (which was hard to even narrow it down to these):
Thank you again to Rebekah for the beautiful shots that we will treasure for years to come!
I’m stealing this idea of making a happy list from Christine (and her friend Tara) as it is brilliant. Here goes in no particular order:
- Spring is almost here! I love warmer weather…shoot, I love hot weather. I love any weather that is not cold. I am reptilian in that I could just sit in the sun on a rock for hours. Love, love, love it.
- Hail Merry’s Miracle Chocolate Tarts – holy crap, these are good. And all the ingredients are healthy ones which makes them taste even better. Where can I get one you ask? Well, our co-op’s farmers market in Oak Cliff of course.
- My husband’s crows feet (you know, the little wrinkles on the outside of your eyes that we all get) I know, that sounds weird but when I see them it means he’s smiling and his smiling eyes melts me like butt-ah. I mean, look at him!
- The Lord’s awesome provisions lately (well, always) but esp lately :)
- Creating things. I enjoy scrapbooking here and there but my latest avenue of this is sewing. I love taking pieces of fabric that are often beautiful on their own and then making something purposeful or just plain pretty out of it.
- Can’t wait to meet this little guy!
- Spending time with my home group friends and visiting family
- Photographing life and people enjoying their life
- Saving grace of Jesus Christ…because I’m basically nothing without Him
- Coldplay – anywhere, anytime – I could listen to them 24/7
- Did I mention it’s warm outside? :)
- Going to Disney World for a couple days for our baby moon
- Project Runway – guilty pleasure
What’s on your list???
Meet Jack Hastin Taylor…due for arrival July 20th.
He’s looking a little alienish here (but don’t they always at this point). He’s waving though! So talented!
He’s a boy
In other very exciting news, my cousin Payton is engaged! So excited for her. :)
Otherwise, we’re doing the work thing, the church thing, the visiting family thing. We enjoyed Dallas’ record-breaking day of snow last week. It was beautiful although I am very ready for Spring. I (not just I, but, we) miss the warm weather so hopefully it’s around the corner soon.
Some exciting news about our coop. They’ve recently changed names to Urban Acres and opened a store front in Oak Cliff. If you value your health at all, then check out Urban Acres, you’ve gotta! :)

What’s the latest and greatest with you??? I seem to have asked that last post but have yet to hear a peep out of a lot of you. tsk tsk ;-) Although, yes, Courtney, we need to update so tsk tsk on us. :)
The latest with us…….drumroll please……………….. I got a job!!!!! Praise the Lord! “Where, Bre, where?”
Uh, the mothership!!!! a.k.a Apple!
We are so excited. :) I’m done with training and am now on the floor. And, no, I can’t get you a discount, and, no, I can’t tell you anything about any Apple rumors b/c I don’t know anything myself. Sorry, but I love my job and I’d like to keep it my job. :) But much love you to you all anyway. :)
Other than that exciting news, we’ve just been paying off more debt (Yes!) and sold our car which eliminates a huge chunk of our debt. Yay!!!!! Then we paid cash for a clunker. That’s Dave Ramsey‘s version of Cash for Clunkers. Heck yeah!! What’d we get? I’m glad you asked. Meet Sylvia the Silver Bullet!
She’s in amazing shape! Her 2 previous owners babied her and have all the maintenance records to prove it. She’s iPod ready and has great AC which makes her Jon and Bre ready. So, thank you for your prayers. We ask that you keep praying for a new renter in our Keller house. We might/should be moving over to the Dallas area soon to be closer to work and the Village’s dallas campus so we’ll update more on that soon.
Stay tuned for a health blog Jon is working on. He’s reading an awesome book called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. Check it out!! It has tons of great info on proper health that’s worked over the ages and there’s also a ton of recipes.
